Amneisa

So I promised I would up more Example, and here it is. Okay, so it is augmented by Fred Falke's remixing skills, and that's okay, just accept it and love it. Also, as a preface, you guys won't be getting any links today and it will be shorter today, I'm writing this in my study at school so I don't have the time nor the processing power to make this computer do things quicker. To the song!

As previously mentioned, Example is a British pop explosion that burst into the scene with his album that came out in 2009, called Won't Go Quietly. It topped charts in the UK, all of his singles were hits and memorable one's at that. One thing that made him a little different then the rest of the pop scene was that his songs weren't all the same. So, with that in mind, check out his other songs(I'd suggest Kickstarts and the Bar 9 Remix of it) and consider buying his albums, it's worth it.

The remix is done by Fred Falke, the France residing German producer/remixer. He's worked with a great many of people, giving them the oppuritunity have a huge name slapped on their music, and it turns out well. Anyways, that marketing was not needed with Example, being more then known in his own right(in Europe, not North America). But what he did do to this song was give it even more of a summer love feel then it already has. For that, he earns points, taking a song that I already liked and remixing it, making it good as well, is not a very common occurrence. And that's okay, just when I do find one where I have a hard time picking between the two of them,it means the music world is smiling on me.

Anyways, as Spring approaches and we yearn for the sun, I will keep posing s'more summer jams. I hope you guys enjoy the tune, and sorry for the mess of a post. I'm out!

Overseas Obsessions

Any frequent reader of my long-winded rants will be aware that I most definitely have a thing for music stemming from places not of my own. Britain seems to be at the top of the list, perhaps followed by Japan and Sweden, although the former has not yet come to light on this blog. So, this obsession I've got really started with my (limited) exposure to Hadouken! during my (brief) stop over in London a few summers ago. Turns out they actually had some acclaim and the hoodlums weren't lying to me, but most importantly, they dressed in bright colors, sampled gorgeously from retro-gaming and had accents that were music, literally, to my ears.

This small, seemingly simple, addiction festered into full on musical devotion. Now, this wasn't the first time this had happened, it also happened with J-Pop and their damn catchy songs, but it was the first time that I had some remote sort of musical knowledge. And, as such, I had better internet scouring skills which I used to find more delicious sounding voices and music. Rest assured, it wasn't "high brow" music, lots of it dealing with the same teenage angst(Hadouken!) and obsession with thuggery(N-Dubz) that my musical pallet was well accustomed to. But it was not a futile exercise, it did expose to me the beautiful-beyond-words-voice(& the physical being attached) that is Ellie Goulding. Note, to European readers, she isn't known over here in North America Land. And to you fellow floating rock residents, check her out, and her remixed stuff.

Ultimately, what I'm trying to work myself to, is the infiltration of Example into my obsession with my cross pond musicians. Now, he is slightly, and I say very slightly, known over here, but not the pop/dance/electronica superstar he is in Europe. Now, I'll get around to posting more of his stuff, that everyone from the UK will dismiss as mainstream and overplayed, much how I do with R&B artists, perhaps those unaware of his dance fun will share my sentiments. In this track he teamed up with current tour mate Skream, just incase you didn't get enough of trendsetters. Skream made waves in the Drum n' Bass arena before setting his sights on dubstep and absolutely hammering it so hard. So yes, I like this song, and yes, I wish I could go see them live.

In conclusion, good song, banging artists, I have OCD(CDO is much better, it's in order!!) and download this song when it assaults your eardrums. I'm out!

Bad Ideas

Good evening everyone, how are you? Not like you can answer but it makes me feel better about writing to myself every few days. So as school draws to a close for this term or semester depending on where you're from(it might have already ended for you, in which case i'm jealous), and as the Christmas season is upon us for those that have real jobs and don't hide in academia, everyone seems to become either cheery, or morose. Cheery for the holidays, morose for the "sad" winter(or those with SADS). So today I thought I'd throw at you a song with wishful thinking, those wishing for winter break faster, and those hoping for summer. Hopefully, you guys like it. It's an old(er) song by Example who now, if you don't know, has blown up on the mainstream/dance scene in England. And if you don't know, you don't deserve any cookies this holiday

So here's the song, sorry for the short post today without any links or as much background info as I would like to give but I should have been in bed a while ago as I have to get up much earlier then usual cause my school has a breakfast with Santa for grads, yay I hope you guys are enjoying your time, whatever you're doing. And get your Christmas shopping down! Now! Early! Before the eve of panic!
