Are We Friends?

Alright let's see how fast I can get this post up. Hopefully really soon. A slow indie song about..something with a melancholic tone and a very sad sounding voice. Not something I'm usually into, but here we go.

The Rural Alberta Advantage is an indie based with members from Alberta, that's part of the prairies in Canada, that now operate out of Ottawa. This song is pretty relaxed, and by that I mean that it's super depressing in tone. The words are entirely up to you for choice on how it feels. But there's my opinion. Indie is pretty new to me. So there we go. So here's my rushed post, so enjoy it as much as I do. Yeah, Bad post I know, I'm sorry. ♥

Breathe Me

I know, I know, it's a post I got up late again. I'm sorry, I'll work on that. Now that's over, I have two songs that are...well very mellow, some what depressing, but incredibly enjoyable.

Something Corporate is, or was I'm not sure, a band that hails from the Orange County,California. It's headed up by the same guy that started Jack's Mannequin which is a band that's pretty similar. Wow, not a shocker at all. Anyways, his music is characterized by delicious piano melodies and heartbreaking vocals. And he delivers on this song.

The next song is a little bit more well know, although I honestly like Konstantine better. Anyways, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is a side project of several musicians in other bands, but this song generated so much success that it's considered a band and not a project. The Remix Artist Collective is an entity I have posted about before. They re-imagine a ton of songs, and this remix for sure improves the original in my humble opinion.

Also, I suppose I should talk about how different we look over here at audioTASTIC. Pretty much, I got bored of the old setup, so I decided to try something on the totally other end of the spectrum, and this is what you get. Yes, you, because I'm too lazy to have creative ability so soon after making this. Feedback is appreciated though, mainly wondering if the colors are abrasive on the eyes so let me know!

Beats And Rhymes

So today, yes a late post, I've got you two mashup-ish songs to fuel your weekend musical desires. If you're partying hard, working late or sleeping early good music is always a good thing. So here we go!

Wick-It the Instigator is...really not what I expected to be honest. He is some guy from Nashville, Tennessee which is pretty clearly country town. Yet here we've got a very talented remixer and turntablist. In this one, he's mixing Outkast's Big Boi and The Black Keys. Both massive acts by themselves, but not people you'd think of mixing. Yet here they are meshing very nicely.

Norwegian Recycling is a solo act coming out of...well Norway. He's been producing for a couple of years, an interesting style of mashing up other songs to make his own lyrics rather then the usual of mixing words over beats. Bonus points for anyone that can name all the songs he uses in this mix. Pretty much all of them are well know so shouldn't be too hard.
Norwegian Recycling

So there you have it, music in a nice, cute, package. Or something like that. Have a good Friday, talk to you at the weekend's finish. I'm out!

Known As Bliss

Heyyy there...yeah, I'm not dead. Sorry about that...I went camping and sorta forgot to pre-write my posts so I left you guys without music for like, a week. Hopefully you haven't all left never to return but I can't worry about that now, into the song we delve, a shameless mash-up full of lyrics and beats that leap into your ears and feet. I hope.

Mitch-Mash is a guy from Raleigh, North Carolina, to be honest I couldn't find much else about him. He's got a SoundCloud which you should check out and get some more of his delicious sounds. He has got some good stuff, if you like the mixing of today's dance-pop hits that flood the radio airwaves that is. Of course, if you don't, you will hate this.

So for those of you that don't like that song, and if you didn't, you should because it is awesome, and I have something else for you. Just to make up for my absence, or something. Mesita is 22 year-old James Cooley from Colarado that is what I would call Indie. He defines himself as Minimalist which I suppose I can see. Honestly though,I'm not sure as my experience in with that whole umbrella of genres is very limited. Irrelevant really cause once his songs start they take me away to some other place, this one in particular makes me think of the driving away from a sunset on a beach. Yeah, makes oodles of sense doesn't it? No, you're right, it really does not.

Anyways, I hope that I won't got on hiatus again soon, and much more importantly, I hope you enjoy the songs. Both of them, if possible, but if not,no big deal, one will suffice. I'm out!

Driving Nowhere

So here we go, a dubstep banger with lyrics from some hip-hop superstars. Well, no, but they certainly know what they're doing. To be honest, I didn't know anything about these guys when I started writing, or decided to start writing, this post. So while you learn, so do I!

Split Second is a odd little group, comprised of some very talented people, and some massive amounts of swagger. While the first is important, the second is triply so, especially in the kind of lines that they frequently use. Split Second is three guys from Taft, a Prep college in Connecticut, that's like 500 people large or something silly like that. But anyways, they all are talented in other ways, be it sports or academics,I really don't like people like that. Gimme some of that talent! Joking, hard work get's you there, but now i'm digressing. They're young, and not that well known but they're tossing out some more content as school is out for the summer for most post-secondary people. All now I think...

Nero are some also, very talented musicians. Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray make up the dubstep part of this group, Alanna Watson sings on some of their songs, I dunno if she is actually part of them though... Anyways they signed to drum and bass heroes Chase and Status' label MTA Records. They've gotten radio and top DJ play, and just blown up really. This song was good before anyone dropped lyrics on top of it, and many decided to, but Split Second did the best in my opinion. They did more then just plop some lyrics on top, and modified to song to suit their needs, but kept the soul of it around for sure. The drops are HUGE and that's just fantastic for me, as their party and sex filled lyrics smashed through making me wanna go find a rave to dance in. Or lots of money to steal so I can live a party life and not work.

And I've now just learnt more then I will all day at school, because the last month of school is for suckers. Anyways, I hope you guys like the song, and have a good couple of days, I'm out!

Like You Mean It

Okay so a couple things, first off when I started this post I wasn't planning to post the second song, but I heard it and it was the first remix of Raise Your Weapon that wasn't terrible I've heard, and I love deadmau5 so deal, more awesome music! Also, I'm sick, so that's my excuse for my short post.

Move.Meant is who this post was going to focus around, but then I realized that I really do not know much about this California based hip-hop group that flows with a distrubing amount of similarity to the legendary Common. Of course, it isn't quite there and few of Move.Meant's lines are covered in cliche. Make no mistake, this is not to say that the song is not amazing, it is for sure one of the few true hip-hop song's I've stumbled upon recently.

Madeon is a young French electronic producer that exploded a little while ago, and then again a few days ago when Pete Tong gave his delicious remix of Raise Your Weapon some Radio 1 play and the whole world turned their eyes to this kid. His style is French electro for sure, but it's nice to see a Frenchmen get some play on an English station, jokes.

Anyways, I'm feeling like death so enjoy the songs, I know I sure did. Have a good few days, I'm out.

Pretty Lights

Today we've got another two awesome electronic songs mixed in with some ranting about my British obsession and some salivating over basslines and vocal hooks. Both are going to be making headlines this summer I think, but either way, right now they can fill your ears with...well music!

Swedish House Mafia is, of course, a trio of Swedish electronic producers all varying in specific genre's and talents, but they've come together and pumped out some jaw shatteringly good songs. Their first album Until One had the singles One and Miami 2 Ibiza, the later featuring grime superstar Tinnie Tempah. Fame and money followed them, and awesome parties too! The song itself features a truly heroic build up mixed with very fitting vocals provided by John Martin, who I believe is from Miike Snow but I could very well be wrong. The background piano track that meets up with the bass kick meshes as it builds towards that powerful drop that we love so much from SHM, and then we are lead into the melody that will make this song a huge anthem for the summer.

Yes, I know, I just posted about Avicii, another Swede, but I'm sorry I had to give in to posting this song before a proper version is released. I'll take the punishment of not being about to get it out of my head any day of the week. Of course, as you just read about him, or if you didn't, you can just scroll down all his info is waiting to be read, by you! Anyways, he's big, and young, and now he's putting out tracks with piano tracks as beautiful as this one, even with the sub-par audio quality, his talent shines through. And what a talent it is, making me want to dance, even though I feel like I just got run over by a bus.

As promised, here is my rant about my British obsession, I started watching Top Gear the other day, and now I'm downloading season 1-8 and I really am quite sad about that. Well, sad that my need for both things I can't afford, the cars, and things I can't have, the accents, are rather overpowering. As it turns out, you can actually gain accents, so if you're British, or have a British accent, I am going to come hunt you down.

Now those of you that haven't hidden in a hole somewhere, I hope you have a good next few days, I'm out!

Arctic Tattoo

This is gunna be a short post, I got up a bit later then usual today so I'm in a rush to get to class, but I love you guys so I'll put this song up. And because I have this song stuck in my head and maybe posting it will stop it from being on repeat in my head!

Friends Electric is a 4 part British indie-electro band from Wales. Beyond that, I don't know much about them. This is their website, it looks like it was made with tumblr. Yeah, so honestly Friends Electric is a band that is indie in most things that it does, but their music is way to catchy, with an abundance of pop hooks and dance inducing electro melodies that...well that make me wanna dance. I have no idea how they don't have more recognition, but then again, my music taste is weirdddd. So they have happy go lucky beats, mixed with lyrics that make you think(I really don't know if that's just me not being awake that I think this, but you can tell me if I'm wrong), but can be danced to.

This song, well I pretty much just described it, but I'll be short I swear. It's been stuck on repeat in my head and it's driving me crazy, so I posted it,huzzah. The voice effect gives it a very ambiguous feel, making me both want to fall asleep and find a dark room to dance in. The hook is pretty good, they over use the title phrase a ton, but that really doesn't matter because the soft augmented piano in the background makes it all fade away. So they've got recognition from other British people, including Radio-1 so that's cool. And now i'm off-topic so I'm gunna go.

Hope you guys have a good start to your weekend, check back in two days. Side note, I was reading through some older posts the other day, I really should consider reading these before I post them, my grammar is atrocious! I'm out!

F.Y.I.F. Vol.8

This post is late, yes, I know, but I have a reason for that! Blogger was down last night and this morning, so there's my reasoning... But anyways what this amounts to is me putting this post up later, but hopefully that's not a big deal! So today we've got these two songs, both very trance-ish, so enjoy the feeling of the night, and embrace it.

Tim Berg is also Avicii, so he's remixing himself. That threw me off when I realized that they were the same person. No idea why he uses two different alias's on the same track, but I that's just how it goes I guess. His real name is Time Bergling and he's 21, yeah that's right, 21, and from Sweden. Scandinavia really has good electronic musicians, damn! He has started collaborating with big names, as big as Tiesto, and stuff like that. He's also on the remixed Tron album with Daft Punk, another big accomplishment. He's gone on a world tour and this song got #1 all over the place, I even heard it on a top40 station and lost my mind! Sadly, it didn't spread as much over here, but still, a great song, with a good dance bassline and some lyrics that make me feel like I should be at a club or driving late at night. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of this song.

Mansions On the Moon is someone that we've talked about before. They make some pretty sick songs, with the production help of Diplo, the American superstar. Junior Boys are a Canadian indie-electronic group that have the original song. They're pretty cool, in recent years they've risen from bedroom producing to some top10 album placements. But anyways, the remix does some pretty good stuff for the song, giving it more chillwave and less indie. But there's my opinion.

So one dance song and one chillwave for the late night trying to fall asleep moments, and you're all set for your Friday night, hope you guys enjoy it, again sorry for the lateness of the post. I'm out!

Shoes and Cars

So as we wade into the week it becomes pretty damn clear that...it's not gunna be any different. So to spice things up a bit, I decided to throw in a fantastic song from last year. Well, awesome remix of an already good song. It's only downfall, is that I can't understand the song cause it's in French... Yes, Canadian I might be, but French-Canadian I am not. Still, I heard once that the melody is the "sex" of the song, while the lyrics are it's personality, so I guess it all works out!

Coeur De Pirate is, like I alluded to, a French-Canadian indie-pop singer. Impressive at her stardom as she's still the young age of 21 and getting international acclaim. She sings nearly exclusively in French, with like one song in English or something like that. But her voice is the kind that sends shivers up and down my spine, and I can't understand her! She's pretty big here, but Quebec isn't the biggest market, but she has won the French equivalent of a Grammy, and that's where her largest fan base is. Just so you know, her voice does not match up with how she looks for me, but that's pretty stereotypical of me, so sorry for that.

Anyways, this song makes me so happy, it's something you can put on and just listen to, without thought of the past, or future. Just vibe. It's nice, Le Matos and Andy Carmichael do a very nice job of turning this already great song into something memorable that, while, that's lasted as memorable for the last year. For me anyways. Of course, this is entirely a personal opinion, and I hope you guys like the song. Oh and if you're interested in what the lyrics actually mean, take a gander at the translation.

I hope you enjoyed the song, it's musical attraction is too strong for me to resist, hopefully you feel the same. Have a good day, or two. See you then, I'm out!

No One to Call

So today is gunna be different. A couple remixes of the same song, with less of me talking, and more of you listening. It's mother's day, and you guys should go give your mother's some hugs and make the dinner or something. They'll appreciate it ♥
Yeah, I score brownie points like a boss!

Please Don't Go(Hype Jones and Pierce Fulton Remix)
A pretty good remix, lots of build up, and that's not always bad. But I was expecting a bit more of a hammer. Still, the piano tune melody gave me some to be happy about and the transitions are pretty good

Please Don't Go(DJ Kues Remix)
A chillwave remix of Mr.Posner and it turns out pretty good. Not the best remix in my opinion, but something to relax to if you feel like having a nice Sunday afternoon or something. Mixing the bassline of a French Electro song with a dance pop artist maybe wasn't the best of ideas, but it's not bad!

Please Don't Go(DOSVEC Remix)
Yeah, honestly not a good call, and I had to toss it in here to show that I don't love everything that includes these two.

Please Don't Go(Butch Clancy Remix)
Probably my favorite version of the song, including the original. I know, blasphemy, but I'm a big fan of remixes and Butch adds that little bit extra to enhance the dance-ability of the song. At the same time, it's good to chill to. Both hands up! and shades on driving anthem's for sure.

So there you have it, I hope you guys enjoyed them, grab the ones you like, don't for the ones you hate! Have a good mother's day, I'm out!

Pop On Acid

So I'm freaking out, just so you guys know. As I write this, I'm sitting in my school waiting to start writing my English Lit AP exam. You might be thinking, easy course, and you'd be write, sadly the College Board is OCD about everything, which adds to stress, and also, writing 3 essays is not my idea of a good way to start a Thursday morning. So if this doesn't get up 'till after my exam, sorry but that's how it goes.

So today I give to you two songs by Digitalism, a French signed, German born duo. They make some pretty fantastic music, electro-pop to full out French House, and today you get a nice sample. Well, not really, you just get my two as-of-now favorite songs by them. Anyways, so they've remixed a bunch of famous people, have been remixed by some people, and are played in live sets by some awesome DJs. They've done alot considering they're pretty young, mind you I guess they have been releasing music since 2004, just no one really heard them go boom until a few years back. Anyways, they've played at South by Southwest which is pretty awesome, and a bunch of other festivals but that's the one that jumped out at me, gimme a break I just woke up.

The songs, which is what you should be listening to right now, are awesome in nature, and just because my opening was great don't give up just yet, I promise I'll say something that isn't just circling myself over and over again. Blitz is the first song I ever heard by these two Germans, and I loved it right away. It was just when I discovered Hype Machine and I was so impressed with how quickly my music library grew! Anyways, it's very eight bit-ish and I love it, reminds me of playing Contra C when I was younger, but maybe that's me showing how much of a nerd I am. 2 Hearts is very different, a more laid back electro-pop song that makes me think of artists like Canadian super stars Crystal Castles. There's my opinion anyways.

So wish me luck, although by the time you read this I'll probably be done my sad exam. And before everyone in university jumps on me about how hard their exams are, I know. Just let me cry about loss of feeling of my had in peace. I'm out!

Stop And Stare

So here we go, a song that makes me wanna spend nights dancing and laughing on the streets. Yeah, I know it's a bit chill of a song but that's just what it makes me feel. So with that, let's jump into the information!

The Chemical Brothers are a British duo that started to make waves back in the 90's with a big beat dance genre that achieved some main stream success and they've continued stringing together live sets of epic proportions. They've changed from making their own music, to remixing and back again. They've pumped out some pretty good content, with alot of focus on piano which I always have a soft spot for.

Boys Noize is a young German producer that is, in short, pretty much awesome. He's remixed big names, got a spot on Daft Punk's Tron:Remixed album which is a very big step for anyone. Considering they are pretty much the Guru's of electronic music. I really don't know what else to say about him, he's a big remix artist but doesn't really have anything that goes boom! But hey, maybe that's my inexperience showing. If so, sorry 'bout that ♥

So this is a short post...I really didn't have much to say and honestly, I'm pretty tired. So there's my excuse, I love this song so I wanted to get it up,sorry for totally phoning it on. Have a good day guys, I'm out!

Eternal Escape

So here we go again, up and at'em because the day is sunny and warm...and it woke me up with sun in the face. But let's get to it, an electro-indie tune with a throwback 80's tune that feels like I should be in neon leotards and doing aerobics in a room full of mirrors. Yeah, I wasn't even alive in the 80's, but if you hear this song you'll understand what I mean.

Marina & the Diamonds is someone we've talked about before. The beautiful Welsh-Green born songstress that exploded in in 2009 and has just been going up since then. She released an EP and people loved it, next year she came 2nd in BBC's 2010 Sound of Poll, losing only to the equally talented British beauty, Ellie Goulding. She's got a weird sense of style, looks like Madonna if she wore vintage clothes. But then again, I really do not have any fashion knowledge. She's into the whole artistic music videos and stuff, and as such they are pretty weird, but she makes good music and that's really all it boils down to.

Grum is yet another British musician, this one does some pretty amazing remixing. Graeme Shepherd is Grum, and he is another one that is a lover of throwbacks, and as such mixing the two gave us this beauty of a song that reminded me so much of a time I wasn't around for. He's started integrating BBM codes into his music, or rather into his music sales, to see if he can stop piracy I think, selling an experience, not just a song. If it works or not, I guess we shall see. Right, so he's remixed some big names, Marina included but also the likes of Passion Pit and French-Soler. He's making some waves, let's see if they turn into tsunami's or not.

The song itself is pretty upbeat, although that does not include most of the self-deprecating lyrics that are included, but c'est la vie. They do contrast nicely, as it then allows it to be more then just a song to dance to, but also a song to listen to. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the tune, I know it's up a few hours later then usual, but I was tired. I'm out!

Oh No!(Grum Remix)-Marina & the Diamonds
